The Dharma-Gaia Foundation, in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) and the Rovira i Virgili University (URV), we are pleased to present our academic offerings for fall 2026. These courses have been designed to provide an enriching educational experience, combining academic rigor with accessibility and depth in learning, allowing participants to explore Buddhism from diverse perspectives. These programs not only offer academic knowledge but also provide an opportunity to transform your spiritual and cultural perspective.

Our educational offerings focus on promoting a deep understanding of Buddhism through its diverse traditions, languages, and cultural expressions. From the study of Sanskrit and Pali, essential languages for comprehending the foundational texts of Buddhism, to the analysis of its art and main currents, our courses are designed to offer a comprehensive view of this rich spiritual tradition. 

«Open enrollment: online course "Mahāyāna Buddhism and its Expansion in East Asia" — 3rd edition» 

The first course we are highlighting is the 3rd edition of the online course "Mahāyāna Buddhism and its Expansion in East Asia", organized by the Rovira i Virgili University and the Dharma-Gaia Foundation. This academic program, taught in Spanish, offers a comprehensive approach to the history, philosophy, and practices of Mahāyāna Buddhism in India, China, and Japan. Through live and recorded classes, participants will have the opportunity to learn about the most important traditions, such as Pure Land, Chan, and Zen, with a special focus on their cultural and spiritual influences.

In addition to gaining knowledge, this course is designed to foster deep reflection on how these traditions can enrich our daily lives and our connection with the world. The course will take place from September 28 to December 17, 2026 and, upon completion, enrolled participants who meet the requirements will receive a certificate of achievement attesting to their learning. "Buddhist Art Course: Beyond the Image. The Visual Legacy of Enlightenment"

Buddhist art is more than aesthetics: it is a visual language that conveys teachings and practice through images, symbols, and sacred spaces. We present the online course "Buddhist Art Course: Beyond the Image. The Visual Legacy of Enlightenment," an exploration of early Buddhism, Mahayana, Vajrayana, and their modern expressions to learn how to "read" this legacy within its historical and cultural context. 

This virtual course is ideal for those who wish to connect with the spiritual meaning of Buddhist art and understand how images and symbols reflect the deepest teachings of Buddhism. With a duration of 25 instructional hours and a fully online format, this program will begin in September 2026. Discover how art can be a door to enlightenment!

Online Course: Introduction to Classical and Buddhist Sanskrit. Advanced Concepts ("Sanskrit Level 2"). Organized by Dharma-Gaia Foundation and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona

The Dharma-Gaia Foundation and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) present the online course "Introduction to Classical and Buddhist Sanskrit: Advanced Concepts" (Sanskrit Level 2), designed as a continuation of the first level. This program, taught by the renowned Dr. Aleix Ruiz Falqués, who holds a PhD in Asian Studies from the University of Cambridge, aims to deepen knowledge of Sanskrit grammar, syntax, and literature, with a special focus on Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit. Aimed at Spanish speakers interested in the textual traditions of Asia, the course is a unique opportunity to access fundamental texts of Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism, and will take place from September 21 to December 21, 2026, with online classes on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM (Barcelona time).

With a duration of 25 teaching hours (4 ECTS credits), the course combines synchronous online sessions with access to materials and resources through the UAB's virtual campus. In addition to expanding students' prior knowledge, the program offers an introduction to Buddhist Hybrid Sanskrit, allowing for the analysis of more complex texts such as the Mahāyānasūtras and the Mahāvastu. This training, a pioneer in the Spanish-speaking world, stands out for its relevance to students, researchers, and practitioners interested in the classical languages of Asia and the spiritual traditions they convey.

Online course "Introduction to Classical Tibetan Language: Advanced Concepts ("Level 2")", organized by the Dharma-Gaia Foundation and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, now open for registration. 

Another program we are proud to present is the online course "Introduction to Classical Tibetan Language: Advanced Concepts (Level 2)", aimed at students seeking to deepen their learning of the classical Tibetan language and its relationship with Tibetan Buddhism. This course, organized by the Dharma-Gaia Foundation and the Autonomous University of Barcelona, will be taught by Professor Ferrán Mestanza García, a renowned expert in Tibetan language and culture.

During the course, participants will have the opportunity to study advanced aspects of grammar, vocabulary, and reading of classical texts, with a special focus on the interpretation of Tibetan Buddhist texts. This program not only offers rigorous academic training but also allows students to connect with the linguistic and cultural roots of Tibetan Buddhism. It is ideal for those who have already completed Level 1 and wish to continue their education.

«Introduction to Pali Language and Literature: Advanced Syntax and Commentary Literature (Pali IV)»

Finally, we present the advanced course «Introduction to Pali Language and Literature: Advanced Syntax and Commentary Literature (Pali IV)», also organized by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in collaboration with the Fundación Dharma-Gaia. This course is designed for students with prior knowledge who wish to delve deeper into the study of the advanced syntax and the scholastic literature of Pali, the language of the oldest Buddhist texts.

Through this course, participants will develop advanced philological skills to rigorously interpret Buddhist texts, exploring Pali commentaries and key concepts of historical linguistics. This course offers a unique opportunity for those seeking high-level academic training and a deeper understanding of Buddhism.
